Junmoni Devi Khaund (Assamese: জোনমনি দেৱী খাউন্দ) is an Assamese film director, producer and Independent politician from Assam, India.[1][2]
Film career[edit]
Wings of Mind (2019), a short film directed by Khaund was selected in the competition section of the LIFFT India Filmotsav-World Cine Fest in Lonavala, Maharashtra. Wings of mind earned critical acclaim in various film festivals across the globe and bagged altogether four awards, the top third award in Jaipur International Film Festival ; Finalist Nomination Certificate in 9th Gujarat International Short Film Festival; Outstanding Excellence of Direction and Voice-Over Talent Award in Women’s International Film Festival, USA and Award of Special Mention in Best Shorts Competition, USA.[3][4][5]
Runjun Cries (2019), a short film directed by Khaund was screened at a short film competition cum festival organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.[6][7]
Political career[edit]
Khaund contested the 2019 Indian general election as an independent candidate from Gauhati (Lok Sabha constituency), but lost to Queen Oja, securing only 5483 votes.[8]
