Chandrika Ravi (born 5 April) is an Australian actress, model and dancer. She is of Indian origin, born and raised in Australia before moving to Los Angeles for her acting and modelling career. She currently resides between Los Angeles, USA and India. She rose to fame through her role in 2018 blockbuster Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu. Due to similarity her facial features and appearance to Silk Smitha, Chandrika Ravi sometimes referred to as the Modern Silk Smitha in Tamil Nadu.[1]

Biography[edit]

Chandrika was born in Melbourne[2] to Ravi Sreedharan and Malika Ravi. Her father is a Malayali and mother is a Tamilian. She finished her schooling in Willetton Senior High School in Perth. She studied English and Creative Arts (Drama) in Murdoch University, Australia and graduated in 2010 before she moved to U.S. to study Acting at New York Film Academy.

Career[edit]

She started learning dancing and acting from the age of 3 then began her professional career at the age of 16; performing in theatre, film and tv around the world. She has won the runner-up title in 2014 Miss Maxim India and was the first Indian descent woman to place as a finalist in 2012 Miss World Australia and Miss India Australia.[3]

Chandrika Ravi made her Indian film debut after being signed up to acting in the Tamil film, Sei in late 2017 which stars Nakul as male lead.[4] She rose to prominence in the Tamil film industry through her great performance in the movie Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu, an adult comedy horror, in the role of a ghost. She played a vital key role as a lead actress and have been signed for several project after the movie like Sei and Un Kadhal Irundhal.[5][6]
